Digging for gold
My kittens have been living with me for almost a year. Everyday I have to clean the litter trays to avoid the dreaded smell of a multi cat household.

It does work but out of the two cats, only Piper is using it. Max does not want to know. I took the hood away for them to go in and get used to it but it did not work for Max.
Recently with the high temperature, I had to clean the litter trays twice a day. Don’t know about you but it’s not my favourite job in the world. It’s messy, smelly and even if I buy non dusty litter, I still end up having problem breathing because of the dust.
I also have been having problems with clumping litter transforming into clay after the cats use it. I have spend months producing different mixes of clumping and non clumping litter together to avoid this problem.
Also I was horrified by the amount of plastic I was using to do it (2 plastic bags a day plus a big black bin bag when changing the whole litter).
As I wanted to make cleaning the litter tray easier. I went on Petplanet and looked what they offered as a solution. I found a self cleaning tray for less than £40 and some flushable, organic, non toxic and 99% dust free litter for multi cat household. I was super happy until I saw the price £31.99 for 12.7 kg. I took a gamble and as I was feeling flushed I bought a bag.
Let’s review the litter first.
World’s best multi cat household litter.... well Piper and Max have been using it since last Saturday and I only cleaned the trays once a day.
1/ there is no more smell in the house when I come back from work in the evening.
2/ no more mess fighting with harden pee clay. The litter trays stay nice and clean.
3/ it’s so easy to scoop pee and poo. No really it’s a doodle now.
4/ both of the little monsters have taken to the litter in an instant.
5/ it does trail a bit as it is so light, so the cats do drag it on the kitchen floor.
6/smells like a farm corn storage, I like that smell.
7/ it’s flushable
8/ I did put some used litter in the kitchen bin bag too and it still does not smell. I don’t use as many plastic bag as before.
9/ yes it is expensive but I have not topped up the litter in the trays this week yet. So hopefully it will last longer than traditional litter.
Now for the litter tray,
Omega roll and clean self cleaning litter tray.
It does work but out of the two cats, only Piper is using it. Max does not want to know. I took the hood away for them to go in and get used to it but it did not work for Max.
To clean it, first roll it on the right side, it needs to be almost standing up on the right side for the clumps to go in the draw, then roll it back on the left to get the clean litter back in the tray. I did not clip it properly the first time so I ended up with a lovely mess on the floor.
The draw is practical tho as there is no need for a litter scoop, it’s easy to clean too. I even use the draw to put the clumps from the other tray to transport them to the toilet.
Now is it worth £35, I’m not sure. It is fun to roll it but one out of two cats hates it. Is it easier to clean, well I think the new litter is actually helping a lot and makes it easy to clean in the regular tray too. So would I buy it again, probably not, I would use that money to buy some more of the World’s best litter.
